She's talking to herself again…

Well, I just finished University!  I have handed in my final pieces of coursework, and it’s just a matter now of waiting on the final three marks to come back and (assuming I pass, which I should) collecting my diploma. If all goes to plan, as of the 22nd of July, I will no longer be a student, and will have to start thinking and acting like a fully fledged and proper adult!  Scary stuff…

Other things are ending as well.  I completed my last ever issue as Editor of Pugwash News, and have handed over to the new guy – it is well and truly ‘not my problem anymore’.  Sadly, things did not end exactly as I had hoped they would; it’s a long story.  But I am trying to see all the positives instead of dwell on this.  I made some wonderful friends and memories, and I have three years of wonderful and educational experiences behind me.   I know the new team will look after it well, so I’m happy to walk away with pride.

Speaking of walking way, I have also, as of Saturday, moved out of my flat and in with the boyfriend.  The parents came down this weekend to help me shift my stuff – half to the new place and half back home for storage until I need it again.  I still have to do a formal handover and finish cleaning (and re-painting!) the place for the next guy, but all my things are over at Adam’s and my mail has been forwarded, so it’s official. I will miss my studio, I’m sure, (particularly all that closet space…), as I did live there for just over two years, but living at Adam’s just makes so much more sense both practically and financially. The only depressing thing is that his contract runs out in September, so I’ll soon have to go through the whole tiresome process again!   We have no idea where we are headed next, so it’ll be an adventure to say the least. Watch this space…

But don’t worry; I will be far from bored now that my time as a student has come to an end.  I am now faced with the fun task of finding both a summer job, and, beyond that, hopefully one that will set me off in my future career.  The hunt starts on Monday!  I have a vague idea of the direction I want to be heading in, but no solid plans or goals as of yet, so we’ll see where fate takes me.

I also have various social and fun things lined up, like the Pugwash Awards tomorrow, the Pure social BBQ on Sunday and the Student Activities Awards Dinner on the 3rd of June.  I am then going home for a few days to babysit the dog while the parents help my little sister move, and I have a week’s holiday lined up in July with Adam and his family.  And, at the end of July, there is, of course, Graduation Day and Grad Ball to look forward to.

I also have some work experience lined up, starting on the 7th June, and am hoping to get some more placements lined up shortly.  See, I’ll be so busy the summer will fly by!

My other goal is to really ‘play’ with this website and make it the best it can be – I have ordered “WordPress for Dummies” and aim to make this a sort of side project to anything else that I do over the summer.  After all, this website is my portfolio and my calling card and  it should represent me in the best way it can.  So, come back once in a while to see what I have to say, and any changes that I make to the design or layout.  Suggestions more than wecome!  Until then, I wish you all the best on your own advantures!
